The Fort Lewis College Men's Soccer Team, the NCAA Division II champions for 2011, arrive at the Irish Embassy Pub in downtown Durango (Colorado) after a short parade on a fire truck. They greet their fans and sign autographs. October 28, 2011. A video of a bike ride from Trimble Crossing to Durango Mountain Resort. This is the first video that I made with my helmet camera. We ride our road bikes from about 9 miles north of Durango (Trimble Lane) up to Durango Mountain Resort on Purgatory Mountain on October 14, 2011, a beautiful fall day at these elevations. October 1, 2011 - The Durango Fall Blaze. A movie about this bike ride, including our dinner in the evening with cycling pro Tom Danileson. July 1-5, 2011 - Visit of relatives to Durango. June 25, 2011 - Hike up Raider Ridge. A movie of this hike. This was Dene's first visit to the top of Raider Ridge. The trail for this hike starts almost across the street from our house. The summit of this ridge is about 1,000 feet higher than our house. June 24, 2011 - Greek Party. A movie of the people from the Durango Choral Society who will be traveling to Greece in July had a party. June 22, 2011 - Drive up the Missionary Ridge Road. I made this movie as I drove 10 miles up the Missionary Ridge Road, which is about 10 miles north of Durango. Missionary Ridge goes up a couple thousand feet from County Road 250. I incorporated a voice-over narrative, background music, along with the ambient sound of the trip itself. This was my first experiment in mixing sound. June 20, 2011 - The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Opening of Florida Road. This road had been under constrution for almost two years--longer than we have lived in Durango. Florida Road (accent on the second syllable, not the first) is one of the most heavily traveled streets in Durango. The part that was under construction was about two miles long. This movie mostly uses the ambient sound, but also has some surprise background music toward the end. June 20, 2011 - Bicycle ride back from Baker's Bridge (after the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony). Baker's Bridge is a good turning-around point for bicycle rides about 13 miles north of Durango. I had to use a voiceover narrative because the wind noise was too much for the microphone on my camera as I rode my bike along. June 17, 2011 - Shootout in Downtown Durango. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:00 pm, there is a staged shootout in front of the Diamond Belle Saloon at the Strater Hotel in downtown Durango. On this particular day, the city received an award from True West Magazine. This movie combines still photographs with short video. June 12, 2011 - Trip to the Animas Overlook. This is a spot up about ten miles up the Junction Creek Road (25 Street) north of Durango. It is at about 8,700 feet, which is more than 2,000 feet higher than downtown Durango. This movie is made up of still images linked together with a voice-over narrative and background music. June 11, 2011 - The Choir Picnic (St. Mark's Episcopal Church). We met for our end-of-the-year picnic at the home of one of our members. This movie uses background sound and recorded voices as well as background music.
